Mission + Vision

OUR MISSION:

Our mission is to be the church God has designed us to be. A healthy and growing community of believers that are deeply connected to Him, to one another, and to the world around us. We strive to reflect the character of God through both our hearts and our actions by showing love to those who feel unloved, offering hope to those who feel hopeless, extending grace and mercy to those who feel they have given up, and serving those in need. Above all, we seek to point people to Jesus through the truth and hope found in His Word.

Acts 2:42–47 serves as our model and inspiration as we follow the Lord together and build a strong, faithful community.

OUR VISION:

Our vision at First Baptist Jedburg is to restore community by reclaiming our God-given purpose, renewing our willingness to serve, and reaching our community with the hope of Christ. Through faithful service, strong biblical teaching, and the power and guidance of the Holy Spirit, we believe God will continue to strengthen and equip us to live out this calling. As we follow Him together, we are committed to building a church that reflects His love and makes a lasting impact in our community.

Beliefs

ABOUT GOD: We believe that God the Father is perfect in holiness, infinite in wisdom, and measureless in power; that He concerns Himself mercifully in the affairs of men; that He hears and answers prayer; and that He saves from hell all who come to Him through Jesus Christ.

ABOUT JESUS CHRIST: We believe in the absolute Deity of the Lord Jesus Christ; His eternal existence as God, co-equal with the Father and the Holy Spirit; His incarnation by means of the virgin birth; His sinlessness; His death through the shedding of His blood as an atonement for this remission of our sins; His literal bodily resurrection form the dead; His ascension; His present high-priestly ministry in Heaven for believers; and His personal, visible return to earth.

ABOUT THE HOLY SPIRIT: We believe that the Holy Spirit is a Devine person, equal with the Father and Son and of the same nature; that He convicts the world of sin, righteousness and judgement; that He bears witness to the truth; that He is the agent of the New Birth; that He baptizes all truth believers into the body of Christ, indwelling and sanctifying all of them, sealing and thus securing them until the day of redemption; that He endures, guides, teaches, and helps believers; and that it is a privileged and duty of all the saved to be filled with the Spirit, the evidence being soul winning power.

ABOUT THE BIBLE: We believe that the Scriptures of the Old & New Testaments are full and complete and verbally inspired by God without any error in the truth; that the Bible is reliable in science, history, and every other matter it discusses; and the Bible is the supreme and final authority in all matters of faith and practice.

ABOUT HUMAN BEGINS: We believe that man, in the person of the first Adam, was created in the image of God, in innocence under the law of his Maker; that by reason of his voluntary sin, he fell from his innocent state; that as a result the whole race plunged into condemnation and death, so that now all human begins are born with a sinful nature; and that all who reach the age of moral understanding become willful sinners in thought, word and deed, and are so without excuse before God.

ABOUT SALVATION: We believe that the salvation of sinners is wholly of grace through faith in the blood sacrifice, death and resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ; that all who receive Him are regenerated by the Holy Spirit and become children of God; that no rite, ceremony or work can avail for the sinner's salvation more secure; that Christ is the ony and all-sufficient Savior.

ABOUT FAMILY: We believe that marriage is the union of one biological man and one biological woman, which becomes the foundation for a home and family. The origin of marriage was instituted by god when He declared, "it is not good that man should be alone; I will make him a helper comparable to him" So God fashioned a woman and brought her to man. Genesis 2:18-21,25, Leviticus 18:22,20:13.

We believe that life begins at conception, and that willfully terminating a pregnancy is against the will of God and is in fact murder. We furthermore believe that one's gender is that which he/she was born with. God doesn't make mistakes, and a male born male shouldn't "identify" as female; likewise a female born female shouldn't "identify" as a male.

ABOUT BAPTISM: We believe that scriptural baptism is the immersion of a believer in water, setting forth, in symbol, his union with Christ in His death, burial, and resurrection; that every believer should be baptized because of the example and command of our Lord; and that while there is no saving power in the water baptism, it is an act of obedience by those who are already saved, to picture their death, burial and resurrection to walk in the newness of life with Jesus Christ.
